Creating a One-Time Digital Access Product
How to plan one-time digital access products in Shopify for courses, trainings, downloads, libraries, or limited-time resources.
When to use one-time access
Use one-time digital access when a customer pays once for a defined resource or access period instead of a recurring subscription. Examples include course access, training libraries, paid guides, research archives, workshops, or limited-time content access.
Define the access period
Before launch, decide whether access should be ongoing or limited to a specific period. The demo store includes a one-time access example presented as an 8-month access offer.
Connect the purchased product to access
Connect the Shopify product to the protected pages or resources that should become available after purchase. For Shopify pages, setup is no-code: paste the page URL, choose which plans unlock it, and make the customer-facing product copy clear about what is included and how long access lasts.
Review customer expectations
- Is it a one-time payment?
- How long does access last?
- What protected content is included?
- How does the customer return to the content later?
