Creating a One-Time Digital Access Product

How to plan one-time digital access products in Shopify for courses, trainings, downloads, libraries, or limited-time resources.

When to use one-time access

Use one-time digital access when a customer pays once for a defined resource or access period instead of a recurring subscription. Examples include course access, training libraries, paid guides, research archives, workshops, or limited-time content access.

Define the access period

Before launch, decide whether access should be ongoing or limited to a specific period. The demo store includes a one-time access example presented as an 8-month access offer.

Connect the purchased product to access

Connect the Shopify product to the protected pages or resources that should become available after purchase. Make the customer-facing product copy clear about what is included and how long access lasts.

Review customer expectations

  • Is it a one-time payment?
  • How long does access last?
  • What protected content is included?
  • How does the customer return to the content later?
